I am Ma’at, the Goddess of Truth.
By KitKat, 9th grade project
If man’s heart weighs more than my feather, than they are eaten by Ammut. On the other hand, if their heart is clean, and weigh less than the feather, they are allowed to live in the afterlife. I remember one interesting trial, of a little girl, and a middle aged woman.
A small child passed one, as well as her stepmother. By first glance, I could tell that the girl was as pure as the Nile, and the woman was difficult to guess. The woman stepped up, put the heart on the scale, and I put the feather on the other side. The heart weigh less than the feather. I told the woman to wait until her daughter was judged.
When it was her turn, the heart was heavier. The girl went pale, and I walked up to the two hearts. Somehow, the woman switched the hearts around, knowing she was evil and wicked, and the girl pure. In the end, the small girl reunited with her real mother, and her wicked stepmother was devoured.
